A Genever-style gin distilled in Rhode Island from Belgian wheat beer.
Sons of Liberty made this gin a bit backwards, by brewing the botanical flavors typically added to gin at the end of production – coriander, lemongrass, orange peel and vanilla – and brewing a beer with them…which is then distilled into gin. True Born Gin is the series and The Belgian Wheat Act is the first release in that series.
A malty backbone reminds one of white whiskey, but the spices present bring this unique liquor back into the gin category. Orange peel is omnipresent, with vanilla following along. In addition, tne can find some creaminess in the nutty, almond flavor and this is all followed up by cinnamon and black pepper showing up for the finish.
