Using Drizly For Liquor Delivery In Newport, RI? There’s A Cheaper Way

Liquor delivery apps like Drizly come with an extra cost.

We live in an age of smartphone convenience and people have become accustomed to apps like Uber and Lyft which offer cheaper and more convenient alternatives to legacy businesses. In the case of liquor delivery, however, apps like Drizly don’t really provide a new alternative, but instead simply play the role of digital middleman between local businesses and their customers. When you make a delivery order with Drizly, you get whacked with a $5 delivery fee. Here at Bridge Liquors in Newport, RI, we offer an easy way to avoid that.

Working New Years Eve? Need Booze? We Can Fix That

This year, there is a problem for people working on New Years Eve but we have the solution.

In Rhode Island, on New Years Eve, liquor stores are typically allowed to be open an extra hour until 11pm. The exception is if New Years Eve is on a Sunday, in which case the Monday holiday rule supersedes the New Years law and means that Rhode Island liquor stores have to close at 9pm. (This will happen in 2017, 2023, 2028, 2034 and so on, though hopefully Rhode Island will have some less convoluted rules regarding liquor store hours at some point.)

That’s right…

Rhode Island liquor stores will be closing at 9pm this New Years Eve.

For most of our customers, this isn’t much of a big deal. They either have the day off anyway and can come and shop from 10am or any of the following 11 hours that we’ll be open. Likewise, anyone working a daytime shift can come by on their way home from work. Like we said, for most people, this isn’t a huge deal.

However, there is an issue for some of our most valued late-night customers…

Newport Hospitality Industry Staff, we love you. (Middletown and Jamestown too)

We realize that the people working Newport’s restaurants are in for a rough night and will likely want a few beverages after a stressful shift. We also realize that it’s going to be next to impossible for any kitchen or Front Of House staff to get to our store before 9pm (unless they’re the type of folks who really think ahead…which is next to impossible to do smack in the middle of the holidays).

So here’s our solution…

Let us deliver liquor, wine and beer to you, at work. That’s right. Just like ordering a pizza. You call us at (401)848-9200 and place an order. You can order with a credit card or pay with cash upon delivery. Please get your orders in by 8:30pm.

If you need some ideas, check out our December deals!

There is a $40 minimum, which shouldn’t be hard to meet on New Years…but if you’re not looking to drink too heavily, talk to a few of your co-workers. We’re pretty sure you can find someone (or a half-dozen someones) working at your restaurant who wouldn’t mind having some booze on hand when they get off work.

Special Instructions

If, for whatever reason, you need us to give you a call when we arrive or to knock on a certain door or park next to a certain car trunk, we can accommodate those special instructions that may be needed to keep your purchase discrete (or we can walk in the front door with a couple 30-racks singing Yankee-Doodle-Dandy at the top of our lungs, whichever your little heart desires).

What if you’re not working New Years Eve?

Then you can get liquor delivery too. Just make sure you get your order in by 8:30pm.

Once again, that number is…

You Can Talk On Your Phone At Our Checkout Counter…On One Condition

We don’t care if you’re on your phone when you come up to our counter if you can follow one simple rule.

A lot of businesses have a real hangup about people talking on their phones when they come up to pay for their stuff. Here at Bridge Liquors, we don’t really mind if you talk on your phone. If you found what you were looking for and have your cash or card at the ready, our employees can skip the small talk and get right to the business of scanning your items, giving you a total, processing your payment and sending you on your way. Sometimes these exchanges are even smoother and faster that way.

Underaged Kids: We’re Sick Of Your Crap Fake IDs

We confiscate and display your fake IDs for Newport and the world to gawk and laugh at…plus you might get arrested.

For whatever reason, Newport, RI is swimming in fake Connecticut licenses. As a result, Bridge Liquors is swimming in fake IDs because we know how to spot them and our employees are taking them like it’s going out of style. We’re just running out of ideas of how to deter this behavior.

Imagine that you’re a 19-year old who’s just got their fake ID straight from the Internet. You call up all your friends and they give you a dream list of everything they’ve heard about or tried at a party one time. So you stroll into Bridge, playing it cool as you, a college-aged male, pick up five bottles of different flavored Smirnoff Vodka, a six pack of Mike’s Hard Half-And-Half and a 12 pack of Not Your Father’s Root Beer. Then you put it all on the counter that looks like this:

Fishers Island Lemonade Has The Perfect 4th Of July Cocktail

All you need is Fishers Island Lemonade, Strawberries and Triple 8 Blueberry Vodka!

Fishers Island Lemonade is in its own right a fully armed and operational pre-mixed cocktail made with real vodka and whiskey. That doesn’t mean that it can’t be accessorized in accordance with holiday traditions. The folks over at  Fisher Island realized that while their lemonade could fulfil the “white” part of America’s colors, it is deficient in the red and blue categories.

Zima Is Back In Stock (For A Limited Time)

Relive the ’90s with that decade’s most notable malt beverage, Zima!

If you were a fan of the original “Malternative” beverage, you’re in luck. Zima is back at Bridge Liquors for the first time in well over a decade. If you enjoyed it in Newport back in the ’90s, relive that decade with a 6-pack ASAP. Actually, before you do that, check out the “so bad it’s good” website they brought back for the relaunch. The graphics and music are just take you back to a time when the Internet was new and no one really knew what to do with it.

Before there was Twisted Tea and Smirnoff Ice, there was the first and original “malt beverage”.. This clear 5% abv beverage was introduced in the early ’90s and was produced in the United States all the way up to 2008. Since that time, the only place to get Zima was Japan, but now it’s back and we have it at Bridge Liquors!

If you want to spice up your Zima, try adding a shot of Chambord!

Bridge Liquors is honored to be nominated for a 2017 Mercury Love Award for Newport’s Best Liquor Store. This is the first time we’ve been nominated since last year. As always, we have a lot of competitors looking to snag the award, so we will need all of our amazing customers’ votes on this one.
