This year, there is a problem for people working on New Years Eve but we have the solution.
In Rhode Island, on New Years Eve, liquor stores are typically allowed to be open an extra hour until 11pm. The exception is if New Years Eve is on a Sunday, in which case the Monday holiday rule supersedes the New Years law and means that Rhode Island liquor stores have to close at 9pm. (This will happen in 2017, 2023, 2028, 2034 and so on, though hopefully Rhode Island will have some less convoluted rules regarding liquor store hours at some point.)
Rhode Island liquor stores will be closing at 9pm this New Years Eve.
For most of our customers, this isn’t much of a big deal. They either have the day off anyway and can come and shop from 10am or any of the following 11 hours that we’ll be open. Likewise, anyone working a daytime shift can come by on their way home from work. Like we said, for most people, this isn’t a huge deal.
However, there is an issue for some of our most valued late-night customers…
Newport Hospitality Industry Staff, we love you. (Middletown and Jamestown too)
We realize that the people working Newport’s restaurants are in for a rough night and will likely want a few beverages after a stressful shift. We also realize that it’s going to be next to impossible for any kitchen or Front Of House staff to get to our store before 9pm (unless they’re the type of folks who really think ahead…which is next to impossible to do smack in the middle of the holidays).
So here’s our solution…
Let us deliver liquor, wine and beer to you, at work. That’s right. Just like ordering a pizza. You call us at (401)848-9200 and place an order. You can order with a credit card or pay with cash upon delivery. Please get your orders in by 8:30pm.
If you need some ideas, check out our December deals!
There is a $40 minimum, which shouldn’t be hard to meet on New Years…but if you’re not looking to drink too heavily, talk to a few of your co-workers. We’re pretty sure you can find someone (or a half-dozen someones) working at your restaurant who wouldn’t mind having some booze on hand when they get off work.
If, for whatever reason, you need us to give you a call when we arrive or to knock on a certain door or park next to a certain car trunk, we can accommodate those special instructions that may be needed to keep your purchase discrete (or we can walk in the front door with a couple 30-racks singing Yankee-Doodle-Dandy at the top of our lungs, whichever your little heart desires).
What if you’re not working New Years Eve?
Then you can get liquor delivery too. Just make sure you get your order in by 8:30pm.
Once again, that number is…
