The Willis Brothers
Dave and Will Willis grew up on Charlescote Farm. There they developed an interest in making cider, which evolved into an interest in hard cider, which they started to distill into apple brandy…which lead them to “The Vault”…
The Vault was located in the basement of the farmhouse where they grew up. Behind a literal vault door is a large collection of liquor bottles that date back to the 1800s. Inside is also where they found the inspiration for the company name.
Where does the name Bully Boy Distillers come from?
It turns out that the Willis brothers’ great-grandfather was a college roommate of President Teddy Roosevelt. Teddy was fond of the term “Bully for you!”, which was a lot more supportive then than it might sound to some today. The Willis’ great-grandfather named his workhorse “Bully Boy” and the brothers chose to name their distillery that as a way of honoring their family’s history.
